Focused on people, I graphically design what their ideas look like.
Born in Fresno, CA
Grew up in San Clemente, CA
Live & work in Portland, OR
Professional interests are in type design, ux/ui design, interaction design and motion graphics.
PNCA exposed me to creative coding & type design. I have the most fun making letters & motion graphics. Addicted to learning & experimenting with new techniques to visually communicate & tell stories.
Other interests are in STAR WARS, Formula 1, sports, video-games, & sneakers.
Guilty pleasure is conspiracy theory shows. Free time looks like video games [Destiny 2:Elden Ring], hiking, basketball, & buying sneakers when I shouldn't.
I like to think.
My strategy is to experiment & pinpoint specific visual cues that visually communicate ideas. Then develop a design language inspired from elements of the story that's being told.

I use questions to break down ideas to their most fundamental meaning. The answers to those questions provide conceptual directions, and ideas for a visual cues. I'm beginning to visualize what things can look like.
Approach
How I Learn
I try to move fast so I can make the necessary mistakes to determine what doesn't work. Working in a circular motion allows me to use information learned from failed attempts to inform decisions that are usually made early in the process. I suceed from failing.
Most creative projects get to a point where the results aren't what was expected. This is where it's time to buckle down and learn. Using an experimental approach, the results allow more informed decisions to be made. The goal is an AH-HA moment, which never comes on the first try.
